R&B star Natalie Cole dead at 65

A Los Angeles, California, native, Cole is best known for such hits as “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),” “Pink Cadillac,” “Our Love,” “Mr. Melody,” “Inseparable” and her duet with her late father, “Unforgettable.” Throughout her respected career in the music industry, she has won nine Grammy awards, and she has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

Her Unforgettable … With Love album was critically acclaimed, and it had spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, and it went on to sell more than 14 million units worldwide; moreover, the commercial success of the album and the duet with Nat King Cole earned her six of her Grammy wins, including the coveted “Record of the Year,” “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” awards.

More recently, at the Grammy ceremony in 2009, Cole’s Still Unforgettable album was named “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.”

Natalie was only 15 years old when her father passed away, and she went on to embark on her own solo career 10 years later. In 1976, she was honored as “Best New Artist” by the Grammy awards, and “This Will Be” garnered her a Grammy award for “Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female.”

It was reported that the songstress had suffered with various health issues in recent years, and according to a New York Daily News article, her cause of death is reportedly congestive heart failure.
