Actor and singer Polanco Jones sat down and chatted about being a part of the Broadway musical “Titanique,” which just scored multiple Tony nominations.

Polanco on being a part of ‘Titanique’

On being a part of “Titanique,” he remarked, “It feels absolutely wonderful. It’s refreshing and honestly, it’s an honor to be recognized just for doing the work.”

“We come in every day, we work hard and we try to share the joy and laughter with the audience. It’s a beautiful thing to be recognized for that,” he noted.

The cast of “Titanique” is nominated for the 2026 Chita Rivera Award for “Outstanding Ensemble in a Broadway Show.” “It feels absolutely amazing to be at the Chita Rivera Award nominations. I am ridiculously grateful and blessed,” Polanco exclaimed.

Polanco on why he loves ‘Titanique’ so much

Polanco is drawn to the show “Titanique” due to its humor and the cast. “I get to go to work and I love my job, and I love what our mission is, which is to bring joy, especially during this time that feels like people are suffering and overly stressed,” he explained.

“It is nice to be a part of something that is truly joyous and something that is meant to make people feel good,” he admitted.

Working with Constantine Rousouli and Marla Mindelle

On working with Constantine Rousouli and Marla Mindelle (both of which co-wrote the book), Polanco said, “It’s a hoot. It feels like being in a stand-up comedy show every day. We laugh just as much backstage as the audience laughs during the show.”

Lessons learned from the show

On the lessons learned from “Titanique,” he shared, “It taught me that I have the capacity to hold a lot. In this particular show, I not only get to do the background vocals, but I also get to cover three other parts.”

“So, having all of that information in my brain allows me to see the show from a very wide perspective… to hold on to a variety of scripts,” he noted.

Closing thoughts on ‘Titanique’

For fans and viewers, Polanco expressed, “Laughter is infectious so the more you laugh, the more the people around you will laugh… so continue to laugh and spread joy.”
