During an interview with GameStop, Moore was asked about how he felt about the dispute between Konami and Kojima. He said: “I’ve always liked Kojima-san. I got on with him during my days at Microsoft. I just think… what’s going on there… I just think both of them should kiss and make up.”
Moore further added that he feels that both Kojima and Konami will resolve their differences. He added, “From my experience, and I’ve spent a lot of time working in Japan, I think that Konami and Kojima will figure it out. Those kinds of business relationships [in Japan] are typically for life, and Kojima is such an important part in what has gone on there.”
Peter Moore has now become one of biggest names in the gaming industry to publicly comment on the breakdown between Kojima and Konami. Many in the gaming media have sided with Kojima while the industry has chosen to remain silent about the issue. Nividia is the only company that has publicly shown its support for gaming icon by acknowledging Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain as a Kojima game.
News of a breakdown in the relationship between Kojima and Konami first became public when when Kojima Studios was removed from promotional material for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, followed by the cancellation of Silent Hills. It’s alleged that the root of the dispute is because Konami is undergoing a restructuring along with the $80 million production cost of The Phantom Pain.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the tenth game in the series and is set to be released on September 1 for all major consoles along with the PC. Set after the events of Ground Zeroes, Big Boss awakes from a coma and establishes a new mercenary army while seeking revenge against XOF.
