Ozzy Osbourne talks North American tour, longevity, higher power (Includes interview)

On his North American solo tour, Osbourne shared that his band is great and that personally, he is “singing better than ever.” He also noted that there is “no drama” and “no arguments” with his band members, especially since they get up, perform and have fun. “Nobody gets loaded anymore,” he said.

The iconic musician clarified that he is “not retiring” from the music business, and stated that he is just not doing international tours anymore.

When asked about playing live and touring out on the road, he said, “It’s a higher power. I am not religious. There is something out there that helps to get me through.”

Osbourne is excited to spend time with his wife, Sharon, after he returns home from touring. “I have this notion that Sharon and I are going to have a peaceful holiday, but you bet your ass as soon as I walk through that door, it’s fucking something,” he said, which makes Osbourne want to get back “out on the road.”

For Osbourne, the most exciting aspect of his music career is its “longevity.” He shared that he will be turning 70 years old this December, and he recalls when he got his first Black Sabbath CD, and he was content with the fact that he made an album. His manager at the time informed him that his CD went to the Top 20 on the charts, and it stayed there for about two years.

The “Godfather of Heavy Metal” described his last run with Black Sabbath as a “great end to a great career.” Osbourne praised his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Black Sabbath for being the “catalyst” to where he is now. “This was a wish that came true beyond our wildest dreams,” he admitted.

Osbourne hopes that his fans will leave his live shows satisfied and fulfilled, saying such great remarks as “what a great show,” or “I had the best time of my life.” He noted that his job as a musician is to give his audience members the best entertainment that he possibly can.

On September 8, Osbourne will be playing live at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh on Long Island.
