On February 5, veteran heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne won two Grammy Awards, and he reflected on his accolades.
The iconic singer-songwriter scored four Grammy nominations, and he walked away his two wins. He won the Grammy for “Best Rock Album” for his “Patient Number 9” album, which marked his first-ever win that competitive category, as well as for “Best Metal Performance” for “Degradation Rules,” where he features Tony Iommi.
This marks Osbourne’s first solo Grammy wins in nearly three decades, and his mantel holds a total of five Grammy awards.
“I’m one lucky motherfu**er to have won the ‘Best Rock Album’ Grammy,” Osbourne remarked.
“I was blessed to work with some of the greatest musicians in the world and Andrew Watt as my producer on this album. Winning the ‘Best Metal Performance’ was equally gratifying being that the song featured my longtime friend and Black Sabbath bandmate, Tony Iommi,” Osbourne elaborated.
He was also nominated for “Best Rock Performance” and for “Best Rock Song” for “Patient Number 9” featuring Jeff Beck.
Throughout his career in the music business, Osbourne has sold over 100 million records, is one of a handful of artists who has had Top 10 albums in last six decades, received induction into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a co-founder of Black Sabbath, and set a Guinness World Record; moreover, he has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Affectionately known as “The Prince of Darkness,” he has played for royalty (even the Queen of England) and dignitaries around the world, interacted with presidents and performed to millions of devoted fans on five continents.
Earlier this year, Ozzy’s CrytoBatz NFT launched as one the biggest Celebrity NFT project ever created, it’s currently ranked in the top 100 biggest NFT projects ever and is valued at over $40 million.
