Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo will host the 78th annual Tony Awards, which will take place on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at Radio City Music Hall.

The Tony Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS, and it will be available to stream on Paramount+.

Erivo is only an Oscar away from EGOT status. She is already a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy award-winning artist, actress, and singer.

On being asked to host the 2025 Tony Awards, Erivo remarked, “I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor.”

“I am looking forward to ushering the theatre community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion,” Erivo elaborated.

Ms. Erivo burst onto the Broadway and West End stages with her lead performance in “The Color Purple,” and she has taken the industry by storm ever since.

Throughout her acting career, Erivo has been nominated for three Academy Awards, two of which were for “Best Actress” for her lead acting performances in “Harriet” and “Wicked” respectively.

Speaking of “Wicked,” most recently, Erivo starred as Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande’s Glinda. This record-breaking adaptation of the musical “Wicked” was directed by Jon M. Chu.

For her portrayal of Elphaba, the “Wickedly talented” Cynthia Erivo garnered nominations from the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, BAFTA Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and the Academy Awards.

Part II of “Wicked” will be released on November 21, 2025.

The 2025 Tony Award nominations will be announced on Thursday, May 1st. For more information on the Tony Awards, visit the official homepage.
