Schultz life was made into the Oscar-nominated feature film Foxcatcher, but this documentary is more authentic, and tells the events as they truly happened, including the madness of eccentric millionaire and murderer John du Pont. This past August, Digital Journal was able to differentiate several facts from fiction, via a heartfelt interview with Schultz.
Prince of Pennsylvania is the perfect counterpart to Schultz’ Foxcatcher book, which was a New York Times best-selling book, and rightfully so. Viewers and wrestling fans get to experience his life (and his late brother Dave) from the lips of Schultz, as well as the people that are closest to him, ranging from his parents to his closest friends and wrestling colleagues. Thus far, no other sports documentary released this year is as compelling as Mark Schultz’ Prince of Pennsylvania. It is told from the heart, and it will resonate well with wrestling fans and audiences. It is a moving homage to both Mark and Dave Schultz, both of which were inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame this past summer. Their impressive careers, athletic milestones in wrestling, the pain they endured in the sport, and their hard work ethic are still relevant today.
