Op-Ed: Lynn Anderson deserves a Grammy nomination for ‘Bridges’ album

Anderson’s newest album, Bridges, garnered a rave review from Digital Journal, and rightfully so. Her CD is sincere, authentic, raw, powerful and captivating.

She was able to dust off Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away,” change the lyrics, and give it a refreshing, gospel feel. The album includes a collaboration with The Oak Ridge Boys on “Get Up Joseph,” and “My Guardian Angel,” a song that was written by her mother, the late but great Liz Anderson.

Bridges is an exceptional comeback album, and it should receive a Grammy nod in the gospel or country music categories. While Anderson already has a Grammy award for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for her hit single and signature song “Rose Garden,” this new album is just as noteworthy, from one of music’s finest female vocalists. She has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and was the first female artist in the history of country music to headline and sell out New York City’s Madison Square Garden in March of 1974.

Besides, as Digital Journal reported, Anderson is one of five female artists that is most-overdue for an induction into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
