Ballerini is nominated along with Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and reigning “Female Vocalist” winner Miranda Lambert, who has won the award a record-breaking six times.
This year though, the time has come for Lambert to relinquish her crown to Ballerini, since she has taken the industry by storm. Ballerini just scored her third consecutive No. 1 country single with “Peter Pan,” and that in itself is a record; moreover, with “Peter Pan,” the 23-year-old songstress was able to top both the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, as well as the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts. She co-wrote her latest single with songwriters Forest Glen Whitehead and Jesse Lee.
In addition, Ballerini has been out on the road touring with Rascal Flatts on their headlining tour, and she has been wowing audiences each night with her live music.
For all these reasons and more, the “Female Vocalist of the Year” CMA award should go to Kelsea Ballerini. Her time has finally come.
