Op-Ed: Ellie Goulding should win Grammy for ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’

In that competitive category, Goulding is nominated along with songs by such artists as Kelly Clarkson (“Heartbeat Song”), Ed Sheeran (“Thinking Out Loud”), Taylor Swift (“Blank Space“) and The Weeknd (“Can’t Feel My Face”).

Ellie Goulding’s vocals on “Love Me Like You Do” are heavenly and powerful, and the song was featured in the motion picture for Fifty Shades Of Grey, thus adding to its popularity and appeal. Vocally, it is the most captivating performance out of the list of this year’s nominees. Her sole competition is Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” if Goulding were to not win the 2016 Grammy award.

Judging from the previous winners in the “Best Pop Solo Performance” Grammy category, three out of four times this award went to a female artist (such as Lorde and Adele), and this year should be no different.
