The name and logo were officially revealed via The Verge and /Film. While the logo is a well-designed blend of two iconic superhero symbols, the title is a mess.
First and foremost, this title is overstuffed with ideas, telling audiences at once that Batman and Superman will be at odds and that the movie is also just a setup for the Justice League movie that Snyder will direct next.
And then there’s this issue: why “v.” instead of “versus”? The choice makes it seems like two of DC’s most famous superheroes are involved in a civil lawsuit. And could anything be more cheesy than “Dawn of Justice”? It seems counterintuitive that justice would just now happen considering Superman and Batman have been doing a fine job of bringing it in their respective cities.
Still, the film is at least a step in the direction of a DC cinematic universe, something the other comics giant has failed to establish, unlike Marvel. The film will see Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, with Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
