Avicii has become one of the most popular artists in recent years for club goers. His success hasn’t come easy, though. The Swedish DJ has quietly suffered from a brutally hectic schedule which saw him perform at 325 shows in one year. Recently, the 25-year-old published a remake of the classic song “Feeling Good” that is going viral on YouTube. It’s Avicii’s reinterpretation of Nina Simone’s classic soul record.
In it, the artist/producer discusses his work-life dilemma, and eventual resolve to take control by spending more alone time re-energizing, as well as, hanging out with family and friends.
Avicii partnered with Volvo Cars to make the music video which features singer Audra Mae on vocals. “Feeling Good” showcases Volvo’s new XC90. The Swedish luxury car maker recently announced that it will build its first U.S. auto plant which aims to produce 100,000 cars a year.
“In the past six years I have been on a never-ending tour, apart for the last nine months during my time-out,” said Avicii in a press statement. “I did around 325 shows in a year with traveling on top of that. It couldn’t continue. In the end I had to re-evaluate my situation and change my lifestyle.”
Audra Mae recently worked with Avicii on the True album on the track “Addicted To You.”
Avicii added, “Sweden is an important place to me, it’s where I gather my strength and energy with family and friends. This whole process of re-evaluation and renewal is what Volvo encouraged me to visualise in the music video. I think we did a great job together.”
