Op-Ed: 98 Degrees’ ‘This Gift’ is still a holiday classic

Nick Lachey and Jeff Timmons do a superb job on the co-lead vocals on “This Gift,” and Justin Jeffre and Drew Lachey nail the harmonies. The group soars as a whole on vocals.

“The snow is falling, the city is white, your eyes are shining, like diamonds tonight,” Nick Lachey sings, in the opening verse.

“I feel the magic whenever you’re near, I feel it even more this time of the year, cause I love you girl, I always will,” Timmons sings, in a latter verse.

The Verdict

Overall, 98 Degrees soar on “This Gift.” It is heart-warming and nostalgic, coupled with soothing melodies. This is the quintessential song for one to listen to while decorating the Christmas tree, baking, or wrapping up presents for loved ones. It is safe to say that 98 Degrees’ music is a true “gift” to the pop, R&B and adult contemporary music world, especially during Christmastime. “This Gift” garners an “A” rating.
