Five women are vying for the 2022 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.” Who will win?
The nominees are Kimberlin Brown of “The Bold and The Beautiful,” Nancy Lee Grahn of “General Hospital,” Stacy Haiduk of “Days of Our Lives,” Melissa Ordway of “The Young and The Restless,” and Kelly Thiebaud of “General Hospital.”
Analysis: This marks Kimberlin Brown’s second career Emmy nomination, but her first for “The Bold and The Beautiful.” Known for playing Sheila Carter, Brown was nominated 29 years ago for her work on “The Young and The Restless” (also for playing the same role). She had a pivotal storyline on the show, where she was revealed to be Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) biological mother.
Stacy Haiduk scores her second career Emmy nomination but her first for “Days of Our Lives,” where she shined as Kristen DiMera. Her interrogation scene opposite Eric Martsolf (who plays Brady Black on the show) was sheer bliss.
Kelly Thiebaud and Melissa Ordway scored their first-ever Emmy nominations in this competitive category, but for them, the nomination should be their reward.
When all is said and done, the Emmy Award should go to daytime queen Nancy Lee Grahn for playing Alexis Davis on “General Hospital.” Her 25th anniversary episode on “General Hospital” was a true acting masterclass that ran the gamut. She showcased many layers of her character: vulnerability, power, brevity, and strength, and she executed it with subtlety. A truly stellar acting performance that should earn Grahn her third career Emmy Award.
