Five male actors are up for the 2022 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor.” Who should win? Who will win?

The nominees include Peter Bergman of “The Young and The Restless,” Eric Martsolf of “Days of Our Lives,” John McCook of “The Bold and The Beautiful,” James Reynolds for “Days of Our Lives,” and Jason Thompson of “The Young and The Restless.”

Analysis: After playing the iconic role of Eric Forrester on “The Bold and The Beautiful” for 35 years, John McCook’s turn has finally come for Emmy gold. Last year, he had one of the most controversial storylines of his career yet perhaps it will be the most rewarding. Sentimentalism should prevail and John McCook should be recognized for his extraordinary work on the hit CBS daytime drama.

Who Will Win: John McCook (“The Bold and The Beautiful”)

Who Should Win: John McCook (“The Bold and The Beautiful”) or James Reynolds (“Days of Our Lives”)
