Op-Ed: 2016 Oscar predictions: Best Actor, DiCaprio should get his due

So far this year, the winning streak for DiCaprio has been generous. He swept the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards and the BAFTA awards for his leading performance in The Revenant.

The Oscar this year seems inevitable, and rightfully so. DiCaprio has paid his dues in the entertainment industry, and it is only right that he is rewarded with Oscar gold. He has had five previous Oscar nominations in the acting categories, which include a nod for “Best Supporting Actor” for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, as well as “Best Actor” nominations for his work in The Aviator, Blood Diamond, The Wolf of Wall Street and now The Revenant. The physical transformation he underwent this year for that role, and his incredible acting performance, should all be recognized with the 2016 “Best Actor” Academy Award.
