Olivia Newton-John celebrates the 40th anniversary of ‘Grease’

She was reunited with co-star John Travolta. The 40th anniversary screening took place at Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, and it was hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Newton-John and Travolta posed for red carpet pictures and even displayed some dance moves at the screening. They are known for their portrayal of such timeless characters as Sandy Olsson, the good girl, and Danny Zuko, the bad boy, respectively.

This film was adapted from a Broadway musical; moreover, three of the songs featured on the movie’s soundtrack became instant classics including Olivia Newton-John’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” as well as their popular duets “You’re the One That I Want” and “Summer Nights.”

The veteran actors were accompanied by the film’s director at the screening, Randal Kleise, as well as former co-stars Didi Conn (who portrayed Sandy’s close friend Frenchy) and Barry Pearl, who played Doody.

In other Olivia Newton-John news, the songstress performed “Magic” for a lucky couple in Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings on Freeform. She was also awarded an honorary doctorate by La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.
