Back in July, Konami removed Kojima’s name from the cover of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, causing an uproar in the gaming community. While vendors are using the official promotional material, Nivida acknowledges the iconic developer in a special promotion.
In promotions for the GeForce GTX bundle that includes a copy of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the graphics card developer recognizes the game as a work by Kojima Productions (which was dismantled back in March). The promotion does not even acknowledge Konami as the publisher.
The gaming community, along with many in the gaming media, have applauded Nividia for standing with Kojima. While many in the media have shown their support for the iconic developer, Nivida is the first industry leader to publicly side with him.
Friction between Kojima and Konami was first noticed when Kojima Studios was removed from promotional material followed by the cancellation of Silent Hills. It’s alleged that the root of the dispute has been the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain $80 million production cost along with a delay.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the tenth game in the series and follows the events of Ground Zeroes. After the attack on Mother Base, Big Boss awakes from a coma only to establishes a new mercenary army while seeking revenge against XOF. The game is set to be released in September 2015 for all major consoles and the PC.
