Actress Nuria Vega chatted about starring in the latest season of the MGM+ original series “Billy the Kid.”

Background on Season 3 of ‘Billy the Kid’

The synopsis is: The Lincoln County War may be officially over, but both Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett (Alex Roe) have important issues to resolve — there is a reckoning to come. Billy is still at large, and Garrett is out to capture him, dead or alive.

With a bounty on his head, Billy has the opportunity to quit New Mexico altogether and pursue a future with Dulcinea (Nuria Vega), the love of his life. But he has unfinished business with Garrett, who has betrayed him, and decides to stay.

Meanwhile Jesse Evans (Daniel Webber), Billy’s longtime friend, rival, and enemy, also remains in Lincoln, searching for a newfound purpose and perhaps atonement for his sins.

As the final chapter in the saga comes to a close, Billy will fight like hell to try to finally find the justice that has long eluded him, even if it means he’ll die trying.

Vega on filming ‘Billy the Kid’

“Shooting ‘Billy the Kid’ was truly a dream come true,” she admitted. “Every season brought challenges, but also incredible growth, and I felt grateful to return each time.”

On being a part of this cast and crew, Vega said, “Everyone was so warm, kind and genuine. I’ve never been in a production where we all got this close. We became a family, and I found lifelong friendships I’ll always treasure.”

Vega on playing Dulcinea

On playing Dulcinea, she said, “What I like most about Dulcinea is her resilience. She has such an interesting arc, and I loved growing alongside her. She has this duality where she can be soft, patient and feminine but also courageous, strong and determined.”

Lessons learned from this screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay, she reflected, “The screenplay taught me about resilience and courage.”

“It reminded me that actions matter more than words, and that loyalty means acting in alignment with what you care about,” she added.

The digital age

On being an artist and storyteller in the digital age, Vega said, “I love the reach that the digital age allows.”

“Stories can connect with people around the world faster than ever but it also makes you more self-conscious and more exposed so it’s important to not take anything too personally — good or bad,” she elaborated.

Advice for young and emerging actors

For young and aspiring actors, Vega said, “Be someone nice to work with.”

“Be polite, kind, and cooperative with everyone. Just appreciate everyone’s job on set and respect everyone’s time. Be open but also learn to say no when something isn’t aligned with you,” she elaborated.

Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, Vega said, “For me, success means being at peace with what you’ve done — knowing you gave your best with what you had.”

“Success means achieving something without compromising yourself or your values. It’s going to bed with peace in your head, heart and soul,” she acknowledged.

Closing thoughts on ‘Billy the Kid’

For fans and viewers, Vega remarked about ‘Billy the Kid,” “If there’s one thing I want people to take from the show, it’s the love and passion behind every actor, every frame, and every detail. Everything was created with heart and intention.”
