Actor Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine chatted about starring in “Smoke” on Apple TV+ and “Dexter: Resurrection” on Paramount+.

How was your experience in “Smoke”?

“Smoke” is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve ever had working in TV. Our show runner Dennis Lehane was a big part of what made it so rewarding.

Can you tell us about “Dexter: Resurrection”… what did you like most about your character in that one?

Being part of the “Dexter” franchise is such a huge Blessing in so many ways. That’s literally my character’s name “Blessing.”

His daughter is named “Joy” and his wife and mother are named “Constance” and “Prudence.” That basically sums up what I like most about my character. He is a constant, joy and blessing to be around and he can be prudent as well.

How does it feel to be an actor in the digital age?

Being an actor in the digital age means your work can travel the world in an instant and the ripple effects will be felt around the globe for years to come.

What motivates you each day as an actor and storyteller?

I love finding new ways to examine the human condition either in front or behind the camera.

As a kid, I became the family documentarian shooting on my Dad’s Pentax Asahi camera and his Kodak 8mm film camera both of which I still have.

What is your advice for young and emerging actors?

Don’t wait around for others to set things in motion. DIY (Do It Yourself) and you may be pleasantly surprised how that will inspire others around you.

Were there any moments in your career that have helped define you?

June 27th to September 5th 2025 may be the most career defining moment for me in my entire career.

This marks the first time I am on three different series playing three wildly different characters.

What does the word success mean to you?

I define success as being deeply involved in my family’s growth and living in a way that honors both my purpose and the potential I’m continuing to explore.

What would you like to say to your fans about the new acting projects?

If you can catch me on AppleTV’s “Smoke,” “Dexter Resurrection” on Paramount+ and Hulu’s “Washington Black.”

Please hit me up on Instagram; I would love to hear what you think!
