Lately, while many of us have become used to seeing pop superstar Nick Jonas in just his skivvies, in the latest issue of GQ (which hits newsstands Jan 27), the man behind the Number One hit “Jealous” is donning a variety of high-end double-breasted suits for an impressive 6-page fashion spread in the prestigious men’s magazine. Modeling suits by such designers as Bally, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana, our once little Nicky looks quite dapper, mature and sophisticated.
In the February 2015 GQ spread, Jonas is asked is he ever worries that his abs are getting more attention than his music. “You know what?” he laughed. “If my abs drove them to the music and got them to access the other projects I’m doing, it’s all good. It’s all worth it.”
Before the November release of his self-titled new album — which has spawned the hit singles “Chains,” “Teacher” and “Jealous” — Jonas, a remarkably centered and down-to-earth 22-year-old, said found the whole “sex symbol” label a tad bit absurd.
“I think the whole shirtless Nick thing is really kind of funny,” he said to me in September. “It’s been interesting, though, that over the last couple of months my physicality has become such a big thing. But, that’s okay, because we should all prioritize physical fitness. So the awareness of me being shirtless and being physically fit is…still kind of funny. Honestly, I don’t take it too seriously. I think that you just have to have a good time with it. I understand what it is and I definitely care about fitness because now it is a big part of my life. Hopefully, if it inspires people to do the same thing to get health conscious and to prioritize things in their lives, then it’s cool and a good thing.”
Overall, the success of Nick Jonas and his role in the hit boxing cable drama Kingdom, has given Nick a new lease on life. “I really am feeling a little bit of everything,” the one-time member of the now defunct power-pop supergroup The Jonas Brothers said, half-jokingly, while on the road for his small pre-album release tour. “In a lot of ways, I’m kind of starting over. I’m almost like I’m a new artist again, which feels great, but it definitely comes with its moments of anxiety and stress. I’m going through lot of different emotions, right now, but overall I’m feeling really good.
“I feel like I am at a place, right now, where I am really happy, personally and professionally,” he added. “At this point in my life and career, I am definitely having the most fun I’ve ever had and, you know what, I’m enjoying every moment of this ride.”
