Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys chatted about his new vinyl and comic lyric book project and Las Vegas residency at The Sphere with the Backstreet Boys.
Vinyl and comic lyric book project
On his new vinyl and comic book project, Carter said, “I love comic books; I’m a nerd, so this was the perfect fit for me. I’m excited because we have something tangible for the fans to collect if they want. I’m a collector myself.”
With this new collection, fans will be able to walk with Carter through heartbreak, healing, and hope— all told in music and ink.
“I can only imagine if people will like it and enjoy it, but if I like collecting things, it would be fun,” he admitted.

Carter on the success of his solo album going No. 1
His latest solo album “Love Life Tragedy” went No. 1 on the Global iTunes Album Charts.
“I was blown away that it went No. 1. I just couldn’t believe it. I didn’t expect it so it was a pleasant surprise,” he admitted.
“As it was happening, I was questioning, I was kind of questioning ‘who really cares?’ and it was a great feeling to know that I had worked so hard on something for so many years and that it was resonating with people and they were enjoying it. That’s all I could have asked for,” he elaborated.
“Hopefully, people will enjoy it, and it will help them as they hear a little bit of my story,” he added.
Favorite songs from the new solo album
Carter listed “Wild Heart,” “Searchlight,” “Hey Kid,” “Hurts to Love You,” and “Made for Us” as his favorite tracks on this new studio offering.
“It was fun going back and listening to some of the re-masters,” he admitted. “It’s hard to choose because every single song was a lot of blood, sweat, tears, emotions, and all the things that I had been going through.”
“Every single song tells a story, and every single song has its own meaning,” Carter acknowledged.
“I spilled my heart out through this music, so going back and listening to it in this collection and its entirety was definitely fulfilling for me,” he added.
More music videos in the works for this album
Carter revealed that he hopes to release more videos for several songs on this album. “I am going to keep doing it as it goes. There is no rush in it for me. I want to feel it as it hits me,” he said.
His music video for “Searchlight” and the radio version of the single will both be released on July 17th, 2025.
Solo concerts in Illinois
Carter announced that he will be performing two solo shows in Illinois in October of 2025. These concerts will take place on October 11th and 12th in Des Plaines and St. Charles respectively.
“It’s nice because I finally put the record out, and now, I can do something different for those shows,” he said.
“People can now hear some of those songs. I am going to add a large portion of that record, and adjust the original ‘Who I Am’ Tour setlist so that people can hear and enjoy the new material that I have,” he explained.

Opening acts on his ‘Who I Am’ Tour
Speaking of his “Who I Am” solo tour, Carter noted that all of the opening acts he had this past year was the “most memorable” thing for him. These artists were carefully selected as winners of his #WhoIAmNewArtist contest.
“All of these artists had their own little stories, and I was able to meet them and hear those stories,” Carter said. “It was unplanned and unexpected because those stories helped me learn and appreciate what I do too.”
“Those stories remind me that why I do what I do is why they do what they do, and that’s because of their love of music and how it can help people. I thought the opening acts were probably my favorite part of the tour,” Carter explained.
“The opening acts were all great people, and I am hoping that one day, they will all get a much bigger platform to be able to share their stories,” he added.
Backstreet Boys residency in Las Vegas at The Sphere
Carter is looking forward to the Backstreet Boys residency in Las Vegas at The Sphere, which runs from July 11th to August 24th, 2025.
“This Vegas residency at Sphere is unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” he underscored. “We’ve put a lot of energy in the rehearsals, the choreography, the content, and the production.”
“Everything is ready to go; it is coming up fast, I can’t believe it. If you are a Backstreet Boys fan or just love music in general and if you love live shows, you are not going to be anything like what we are going to be at the Sphere,” Carter explained.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity and I’m grateful to put on a show that only The Sphere could do,” Carter said, effusively. “So, we are really proud of that.”
‘Millennium 2.0’
Carter added that he hopes the fans enjoy the forthcoming “Millennium 2.0,” which is a deluxe edition of the pop group’s seminal album “Millennium,” which will also be released on July 11th, thus coinciding with the Vegas residency.
This special edition will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original album and it will include all of the the original tracks, plus 13 bonus tracks such as live versions, demos, and a new song called “Hey.”
Carter on Erik-Michael Estrada and Jeff Timmons
Carter had kind words about Erik-Michael Estrada of O-Town and Jeff Timmons, the founding member of 98 Degrees.
“Those are both of my boys,” Carter admitted. “I love Jeff; he is such a great guy. I love Erik; I had a great time with O-Town as they were opening up for me on tour as well.”
“Hopefully, they can come and watch us at The Sphere, and we are excited to see them, along with other special guests,” Carter added.
‘The Carters’ documentary on Paramount+
He also opened up about “The Carters: Hurts to Love You” documentary.
“The Carters: Hurts to Love You,” directed by Soleil Moon Frye, is an intimate documentary that unveils the hidden struggles behind Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) and Aaron Carter’s fame. It is available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.
Told through the eyes of their sister, Angel, this powerful film unpacks the family’s complex dynamics, leading to the tragic deaths of three siblings and their father.
“It was an important story that needed to be told,” he expressed. “It was the truth! It was therapeutic for me and my sister, Angel, especially to be able to talk and share her story. It was also a way that she could heal, I could heal and hopefully help other people out there.”
“We had a lot of people who contacted us and thanked us. I didn’t expect it at all but you never know until you open up and share that,” he acknowledged.
“So, I am very happy for my sister being in her healing process stage, and she is taking that into the Kids Mental Health Foundation, and doing something with the tragedy that we have been through as a family,” he elaborated.
“Our focus right now is taking care of our children and protecting them and also helping any other family out there that needs to through our story,” he added.
Carter on Baylee Littrell competing on ‘American Idol’
Carter complimented Baylee Littrell, the son of Brian Littrell, for competing on the reality singing competition “American Idol.”
“Baylee was incredible,” Carter exclaimed. “Baylee is one of the most talented young artists, and to see him on that stage and watch him get as far as he got was great.”
“His father, Brian, has always been extremely talented, and he has so much to offer to Baylee to teach him to be the best that he could be,” Carter observed.
“To finally see the world seeing Baylee was just wonderful. I am so proud of Brian, and I am so happy for him and his family,” he added.
Closing thoughts on the new vinyl and comic lyric book projects
For his fans and supporters, Carter said, “I’m a collector of things. We came from an era where things were tangible and material, and where we could go out and buy a CD, pull it open and put it in your CD player. We don’t see that anymore… it’s all in the click of a button now. So, we are bringing that back a little bit.”
“A lot of our fans love that… they want something tangible that they could feel and we are giving them fun things they can collect,” Carter noted.
“We are bringing things back to a nice, nostalgic time where value was in what you owned and had, and you held onto it because you loved it so much. That’s the era that we are from,” he concluded.
