Experience filming ‘When Hope Calls’ Season 2
“Filming the new series was good,” he exclaimed. “It was a lot of fun. It is set in the 1920s, where I get to dress up as a cowboy, and the wardrobe is really good. It was more fun than I ever thought it would be.”
“All the people were super nice. There is not much more you can ask for than having great people on set. Overall, it was a good atmosphere,” he added,
Working with the cast of actors in ‘When Hope Calls’
“Cindy Busby is sweet, Wendy Crewson is cool, and Christopher Russell is just Prince Charming,” he said. “The demographic that watches this type of show is going to love the male ensemble that Great American Family has put together.”
“This show has some really cool and great dudes, and the women that watch the show will love them,” Bateman added.
Bateman on playing Wyatt in ‘When Hope Calls’
On playing Wyatt, Bateman said, “It is always fun to play the badass of the series. Wyatt is a former rodeo star turned rancher.”
“Wyatt is tough but he lost Ray, who was the owner of the ranch, the closest thing he had to a father, and Ray was the only person he had that meant anything to him; however, there is a heart down there, which will be unveiled as the show goes on,” Bateman explained.
“That’s a cool, fun thing about this character I like: it’s a slow burner and he is layered, and to me, those are my favorite characters… where you don’t get everything right away, and you have to work for it. You see Wyatt grow into who he is, and his personality comes out in slivers,” he elaborated.
“I feel lucky to be able to have a layered character that has to work to show these emotions. I was happy when I got to step into Wyatt’s character,” he added.
Working with Great American Family
On working with the Great American Family network, Batemen said, “Great American Family is a great company to work with. The people are great, everyone had a smile on their face, so that made going to set easy each day.”
The digital age
On being an actor and content creator in the digital age, Bateman said, “It’s good to be a part of it but I feel that Hollywood is in a weird spot right now. A lot of studios are not doing well. What makes me sad the most is that I feel that movies are dying.”
“While the shows are doing well, we are losing movies. The shows are prospering and it’s a good time for shows but I grew up watching movies; movies were the thing but these days, movies theaters are down,” he acknowledged.
“The digital age makes me excited because growth is amazing and there is more content out there, but it also makes me sad because people’s attention spans are shortened and they continue to shrink,” he elaborated.
“It is great that there are more digital platforms out there to work for different studios, but the digital age spreads very thin in regards to storytelling, so, for me, the digital age is bittersweet. I am always game for growth though,” he added.
Working with Jen Lilley in ‘Operation Mistletoe’ on Hulu
Bateman recalled working with actress Jen Lilley in the Hulu rom-com “Operation Mistletoe,” which was co-written by Ansley Gordon.
“Jen is hilarious,” he admitted. “She is a little firecracker, and she is a really funny go-getter. We were laughing the whole time we were shooting.”
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Bateman said, “Peace.” “I’ve had a really great year so far,” he admitted. “My family, my wife, and kids are all amazing,” he exclaimed.
“I’ve never been so focused, and I am just enjoying the journey of where I am right now,” he added.

Bateman had great words about actors and friends Adam Senn and Joseph Cannata. “Adam is awesome. I can’t say enough good things about him,” Bateman said.
“Joseph is great too. He is in Costa Rica right now soaking up the sun. I still talk to Joseph all the time,” Bateman added.
Bateman on ‘The Matchmaker’s Playbook’
Bateman recalled doing “The Matchmaker’s Playbook,” where he starred opposite Caitlin Carver and Tyler Johnson. “I love that movie,” he exclaimed. “That was a blast. I enjoy doing comedies like that. Working with Caitlin and Tyler was so great!”
Bateman reveals his superpowers of choice
His superpowers of choice would be “time travel” and “to be able to eat what he wants and not gain any weight.” “I would love to go back in 1985 to the Queen ‘Live Aid’ concert to see Freddie Mercury,” he said. “That was a time when art, movies, and music were so beautiful.”
“I love food, so I would love to eat everything I want, and still maintain my ideal weight,” he explained.
Bateman furnishes his definition of success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Bateman shared, “Success has always been the same for me. Success, to me, is always being happy.”
“That is all I care about… happiness, passion, and love. In every birthday cake, I always wish for the same thing, and that’s contentment,” he noted.
“When I wake up, and I am passionate and I love what I am doing, that is all I care about,” he expressed.
