Nathan Goshen discusses new single ‘Home,’ musical inspirations (Includes first-hand account)

Regarding his song “Home,” he said, “I was with a friend of mine and we kinda had a bad day, then we talked about how sometimes people run away from their problems and travel to far places and how in our case is the other way around, how every time something bad happens we feel the need to go home immediately and work things out.”

He shared that his music is basically inspired by “everything.” “I don’t really wait for inspiration, I tend to sit myself down and write ‘for practice’ (at least that’s what I tell myself while I do it), and when I do that, a lot of things comes out naturally,” he said.

On his plans for the future, he said, “I guess the regular things, family, career and such. I’m a growth freak, I have an obsessive habit to check myself every week and see what changed from last week so the plans keeps changing at a crazy pace.”

For Goshen, music is a cathartic process. “Music cleans your spirit unconsciously, it’s like a therapy, to be able to write your stories and compose them. The chance to perform on stage is a huge gift as well. I’m very grateful for that,” he said.

Digital transformation of music scene

On the impact of technology on electronic music, he said, “I think it changed the age of the artists, also music making is a lot more accessible now than it was 15 years ago. It’s a lot easier to execute what you have in your mind today.”

Regarding Goshen’s use of technology in his music, he said, “I play around with it a lot, but I still love the live energy as well so I do my best to keep it in my music, obviously ‘Home’ is not an example.”

For his fans, he concluded, “I hope ‘Home’ reminds them of everything they care about as it usually does for me.”
