Actress Natasha Blasick chatted about starring in the series “Paul T. Goldman” on Peacock, as well as in the upcoming comedy film “All-Star Weekend.”
Aside from being an actress, Blasick is a model, producer and musician.
‘Paul T. Goldman’ on Peacock
She portrays Svetlana, the mail-order bride in the mind-bending Peacock series Paul T. Goldman. “That was the best time ever,” she said. “It was so nice. On the last day of my shoot, I finally took it all in. The character was based on a real person who is a mail-order bride.
“It was actually amazing to play somebody who went through that experience. It was nice to find the humanity in her and play her like a human being, who is trying to find happiness just like anybody else,” she said.
‘All-Star Weekend’ comedy by Jamie Foxx
Blasick also stars opposite Gerard Butler, Jeremy Piven, Eva Longoria, and Jamie Foxx in in the upcoming comedy feature All-Star Weekend, which marks Foxx’s directorial debut.
“Doing this comedy was incredible,” she said. “It was just so excited to work with Jamie Foxx, he is one of the best comedians in the world. It was fun to work with him and he creates a safe space for his actors.”
“Working with Gerard Butler was great too. The first time he told me when he met me was ‘do not correct my accent,’ even though I wasn’t going to. It was funny this was the first thing he told me besides ‘hello,’ and that made me feel better about myself and my insecurities,” she said with a sweet laugh.
‘Moms Rising’ film
In the upcoming feature, Moms Rising, Blasick plays a real-life nurse, Luba Tryszynska, the “Angel of Bergen Belsen,” who saved the lives of 52 children during the Holocaust in World War II.
“Luba was such an inspirational person. In preparation of this movie, I actually re-watched Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice.’ This time around, I watched it to help me hone my craft, and once again, she was absolutely amazing in it,” she said.
‘Immortality’ video game
She also appeared in the acclaimed live-action video game Immortality, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, and was the recipient for the BAFTA award in the category of Best Narrative for the live action video game. “The BAFTA win was so great,” she admitted.
The digital age
On being an actress in the digital age, Blasick said, “It feels good. There is more work, more shows, and more opportunities out there, so it’s more exciting. The shows now are more creative than ever. I love that part of the business very much. There is a show for anything you can possibly think about. There are more stories being told than ever, and more voices, it’s actually very inspiring.”
Desire to someday work with Meryl Streep
Blasick revealed that she would love to someday work with acting queen Meryl Streep. “I would be horrified but I would love to work with her. Meryl is a genius and just incredible,” she said.
One of her first breaks was a recurring role in MDN, a sketch-comedy series on Spike TV. She appeared in eight of the 10 episodes. She was the swimsuit winner in the “Mrs. World” contest. One of her first feature leads was in the found-footage horror thriller Paranoid Activity 2.
Her additional feature credits include: Meet the Spartans, Dark Crossing, Nomad: The Beginning, The Black Russian, The Martial Arts Kid, Loves Me, Loves Me Not, Playing With Dolls, Blood Pageant, and Hollywood Laundromat.
