This five-day summer retreat will feature creative writing workshops with Adelphi faculty, accomplished writers and artists, and English education graduate students. This will be in partnership with best-selling author and Adelphi graduate, Alice Hoffman, from the Adelphi University Ruth S. Ammon School of Education.
High school juniors and their teachers will visit Adelphi University’s Garden City campus, where they will partake in a five-day writing workshop, as part of the Alice Hoffman Young Writers Retreat. The high school students that are admitted in the summer retreat will receive a full program scholarship, which will cover the tuition, materials and lunches for each day.
Nadia Ackerman is a singer-songwriter and artist from Australia. Throughout her career, she has released five pop albums and has performed with industry greats such as Sting and Bruce Springsteen. Her short film Time To Live Again was been nominated for a 2017 Daytime Emmy Award, and she is the owner and artist behind Natchie Art in Brooklyn, New York.
Ackerman will show her Emmy-nominated short film, Time To Live Again, and she subsequently engage in a discussion with the students, and she will lead the group in a writing activity.
