This account is raw and deeply personal. Travis just celebrated his 60th birthday at the Grand Ole Opry, where he was surrounded by his dedicated fans and family members. It was co-written with Ken Abraham, a New York Times best-selling author, and Travis’ wife, Mary.
The book chronicles the country crooner’s childhood, coming from a working-class background in North Carolina, as well as his commercial success as a chart-topping country and gospel recording artist; moreover, the memoir recounts the difficult times such as suffering a life-changing stroke and a divorce. Even during the ordeals, Travis was able to persevere and rise above thanks to his indomitable spirit and faith.
He shares many stories that were previously untold, including his tense relationship with his father and his troubled youth, which was comprised of alcohol. Travis opens up about the warm reception of his signature tune “Forever and Ever, Amen,” as well as the multiple hits that followed him in his career. Without giving too much away, Randy Travis’ book is a must-read.
