Wilson opened her set with a cover of The Who’s “The Real Me,” which instantly lured her listeners and fans into her solo concert. It was followed by three powerhouse Heart tunes, which included “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You” and the fan-favorite “What About Love.”
It was also great to hear material from Wilson’s second solo EP, Focus, which featured “Manic Depression,” “Anguish,” and a cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give Up”; moreover, she performed songs from her first solo EP in their entirety, which included “Fool No More,” “For What It’s Worth,” “Ain’t No Way” and “Danger Zone,” the majority of which she saved for her encores.
The two highlight vocals of the night were her powerful rendition of “Alone,” which had a slightly different arrangement to it, and her equally compelling version of The Who’s “Love, Reign O’er Me.”
The Verdict
Overall, Ann Wilson from Heart was able to deliver at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. Her voice is a true force of nature, and she is as good as ever. Her live solo concert garnered an A rating.
