Randy Jackson of Zebra talks Mulcahy’s show, future plans (Includes interview)

Tonight, Zebra will be performing their debut studio album in its entirety at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh. “This is the first time that we are doing that, and we will do the album in order. We have been playing for 41 years, but we never thought about doing this. The promoter made it part of the promotion and people seem to be really interested in it,” he said.

From that breakthrough album, Jackson listed “Who’s Behind the Door?” as his favorite song on there, which he wrote solely.

On their plans for the future, Jackson said, “We’ve got some other Zebra shows that we will be doing. We will be playing at B.B. King Blues Club in Manhattan in April, and we’ve got a lot of shows out of town. The three of us all play in different bands as well, so we are always busy. We also hope to get another Zebra record done sometime soon.”

Aside from Jackson on lead vocals and lead guitar, Zebra is made up of Felix Hanemann on bass, keyboards and vocals, and Guy Gelso on drums and vocals.

Zebra has been inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2012, as well as the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010. “We were very flattered. Louisiana is where we grew up, so it was easy to accept that, because we are from there, but the Long Island Music Hall of Fall caught us by surprise,” Jackson said.
