Lauren Davidson discusses ‘Hear Me’ EP and musical influences (Includes interview)

On her breakthrough EP, Hear Me, Davidson said, “It is my debut EP. I wanted to include songs that I felt introduced me as an artist. Since I only had two singles released previously, I had a bunch of material to choose from. This EP is so special to me. The title track ‘Hear Me’ is the first song I’ve ever written.”

Regarding her plans for the future, she said, “I have so many plans and they change daily but we are currently working on a single to be released for summertime and prepping for some live shows. I’ll be opening for Parmalee next month at iPlay America in my hometown of Freehold.”

She is drawn to the country genre of music due to its ability to tell a story and to convey a meaningful message. “I’ve always loved that country music tells a story. When I listen to a song I connect with lyrics first and I love the storytelling,” she explained.

Davidson listed such singer-songwriters as Grace Potter, Carrie Underwood and Carole King as her biggest influences, and she even included classic rock group Fleetwood Mac in her mix of musical inspirations. Her dream male collaboration partners in country music include such heartthrobs as Kip Moore, Brett Young and Drake White.

For aspiring country singer-songwriters, the songstress underscored the importance for them to be true to themselves, and they ought to never stop chasing their dreams.
