DelGuidice will be playing at B.B. King Blues Club on Jan. 1 and at The Paramount on Jan. 2 with the Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot. “I love B.B. King. Blues Club. It is an annual show that we do every year, and it is great to be there,” he said. “The Paramount is a great place. It is a meaningful place for me since that is where I got hired to play with Billy, so that was one of the most amazing things that happened to me back in 2013. It’s great to go back and actually play there, and I get to relive all those feelings again.”
Last month, DelGuidice was a part of Joel’s 70th show at Madison Square Garden. “The Garden shows keep getting better and better. Those are great shows,” he said. “To be able play his songs when I am not with him with Big Shot, and to be able play the songs with Billy is pretty surreal and unbelievable.”
Billy Joel’s musical director, Tommy Byrnes, is also a part of DelGuidice’s Big Shot. “Tommy is just the best. He is one of my best friends and just so knowledgeable. He is a good person to be around, and that definitely adds to the excitement of the gig,” he said.
DelGuidice’s New Year’s resolutions for 2016 are “To become a better human being, and to become a better soul.”
His plans for 2016, will be more touring with Big Shot, as well as with Billy Joel. “We are going to be stacked up for the year. It is looking really good. I will also have new material, since I will be releasing an EP at some point in 2016. Between my own music and Billy’s music and playing with Billy is going to be an exciting year,” he said.
In addition, DelGuidice has a busy family life. “I have four children, so when I am at home, I make sure I spend it with them and I shut the music off. I try to focus on family as much as I can, and I take it one day at a time,” he said. “I have always been a dad first, and I am definitely motivated by my family. I have a great wife, and she is amazing, so having her there is another beautiful thing and a real help to me.”
