Rising country artist Mikayla Lane chatted about her new single “Ambush,” and she also debuted the song’s new music video.

On her new single, she remarked, “‘Ambush’ is about a girl who wasn’t looking for a relationship but then out of the blue, this guy changes her, he ambushes her. It’s your typical love story song with a twist and play on words.”

On her music and songwriting inspirations, she said, “A lot of my music is inspired by the west and the lifestyle that I live. Most of the time I write about things that are universal and people can relate to.”

Regarding her future plans, Lane revealed, “I plan to keep pursuing music and working hard at my dream.”

On being an artist in the digital age, Lane explained, “Sometimes I think it makes the playing field so huge that it’s hard to focus on certain artists, but I know without technology it would be very difficult to get my music out there, so I make that work to my advantage.”

She listed Cody Johnson as her dream male duet choice in music. “I would love to do a collab with Cody Johnson because I have a huge amount of respect for him, where he came from, and what he stands for. I’ve always looked up to him,” she said.

Regarding her definition of success, Lane said, “Success, to me, is doing my best at my passion and what I love while keeping myself stable.”

Lane concluded about her single “Ambush,” “I just want listeners to feel good when they listen to the song. Sounds cliche, but I want them to feel like they’re in the Wild West.”
