The trailer is broken in two parts with the first half touching on theme of the end of an era by reflecting back on the series to the tune of Quiet’s Theme. It starts with Metal Gear Solid than concludes with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker while witnessing the transformation of Naked Snake from to Big Boss.
The second half of the trailers introduces audiences to the Metal Gear of the game, Sahelanthropus. Named after the extinct hominine, this Metal Gear is described as completing the missing link between infantry and artillery that Aleksandr Granin envisioned in Snake Eater.
The trailer ends with a blood soaked Big Boss and the Diamond Dogs arriving at Mother Base before a title card states, “V has come to“.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the tenth game in the series and is set to be released on September 1 for all major consoles along with the PC. Set after the events of Ground Zeroes, Big Boss awakes from a coma and establishes a new mercenary army while seeking revenge against XOF.
The game has been universally praised as one of the best titles in the series and one of the best games for the Next-Gen consoles.
