Meghan Linsey from ‘The Voice’ discusses new ‘Believer’ EP (Includes interview)

On her newest EP, Linsey said, “It feels awesome. I am so excited to put out music that I really believe in, no pun intended. It is a labor of love, and it is really cool to put it out independently right after the show.”

Linsey dubbed the reality singing competition, The Voice, as a “great experience,” especially being on Team Blake. “I feel like the show has been an amazing platform for me with regards to building a fan-base. They are very artist-friendly, which I like, and Blake Shelton was awesome to work with. He really let me do my thing and be myself and that was the most important thing for me.”

She added, “It all worked out the way it was supposed to. Blake is such an awesome guy, a good human and on top of that, he is really smart and a great artist. He had some really good suggestions and ideas, and it was a really good working relationship.”

Her plans for the future are to continue working. “I am always working and I never stop working,” she said with a sweet laugh. “I am booking dates, and I will be out playing shows, and soon I will be pushing a single, and I will be doing my thing, and sending it out there to the people.”

While it is extremely difficult for her to select a favorite song from the album, she noted that “Best of Me” is a very personal song for her. “It is a very personal song and probably the hardest one to write. As a songwriter, that was probably my favorite on the EP,” she said. “As far as a fun song goes, I love ‘Counterfeit.’ I love that song.”
