Sigmund Trondheim is a Danish singer-songwriter, artist, and social influencer. He sat down and chatted with this journalist prior to his “Emerging Artist Showcase” performance at Joanne Trattoria..

Joanne Trattoria is a restaurant and entertainment hub in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, which is owned by Joe Germanotta, partner of Second Wind Media and Lady Gaga’s father.

Joanne Trattoria performance

On performing at Joanne Trattoria, he said, “It feels incredible. I am so excited. I am honored. I am also very nervous. I came all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark, and I am so excited I got this opportunity.”

Trondheim revealed that his music and songwriting are inspired by his life experiences.

The digital age

On being an artist in the digital age, he said, “It feels very nice. I do a lot of content on social media to build my fan-base, so I feel it’s a great way to build an audience.”

“Back in the day, it was hard to get a record deal and you had to get people to go out and buy physical albums, but now you can get a lot of exposure if you know how to entertain people on social media,” Trondheim elaborated.

Future plans

His future plans are to “release new music.” “I have six new songs that I’ve been recording for this summer. I hope to release a bunch of them,” he said.

“I hope to try to make it in the United States, do a lot more gigs here, and hopefully, get a record deal,” he added.

Advice for young and emerging artists

For young and aspiring artists, Trondheim said, “Listen to your gut. Intuition is the whisper to the soul. Never compromise and never let go of what made you follow your dreams in the first place. Always stick to what you can do. Always be yourself because that’s very important.”

“Success is not worth it if you lose yourself in the business,” he underscored.

Dream duet choices in music

His dream duet choices in music include Troye Sivan, Ariana Grande, and “Mother Monster” herself Lady Gaga.

Success

On his definition of the word success, he said, “I already feel very successful, and I think you should be careful to validate and measure success on certain things. Success, for me, is real, authentic connection and love, and not streams on YouTube and Spotify.”

“This digital age is very obsessed with digital and statistics success, but success to me, means having people come and support me, as well as love and kindness,” he elaborated.

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, Trondheim said, effusively, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always supporting me and looking after me. It is because of my fans that I am able to do all of this, and to pursue my dreams.”
