“It feels like home because we are always here. I love this place,” he said, about playing at Mulcahy’s tonight. “My plans for the future are to keep making music. It’s a gift to be able to bring joy to people’s lives. Life is difficult and the people smile and have a good time. You get to be a part of it and that’s a blessing,” he added.
On May 19, Big Shot will be performing at The Paramount in Huntington. “That’s going to be good too,” he said. “That’s another great venue, and it’s on Long Island. Most of us are from Long Island.”
Each day, Dimichino is motivated by family and friends. “People need you and you need people. We’re all the same in that aspect,” he said.
Aside from his musical endeavors with Big Shot, Dimichino is also the bassist of the Long Island rock band Nine Days, which is known for their smash single “Absolutely (Story of a Girl).” “Oh my God. Who would have thought that. It’s the monster that’s bigger than the band and all its members. People still know it and love it,” Dimichino said.
Speaking of love for the song “Absolutely (Story of a Girl),” The 90’s Band performed it on the previous night at Mulcahy’s as part of the Cinco de Mayo celebration.
For aspiring bassists, he said, “Do it because you love it, and be patient with it. Nothing happens overnight. It is a process and there are no shortcuts.”
Dimichino had nothing but the kindest remarks about Cheri and Danielle, both of which run the Big Shot merchandise table. “They are great! Sweet girls. Each day is an adventure,” he said.
