Hrach Muradyan, TV host, producer, and content creator, chatted about his daily inspirations, the digital age, and his career in the entertainment industry.

How does it feel to be a TV host, producer, public figure, and content creator?

Being a TV host, a producer and a content creator brings a sense of responsibility with it, especially in the format that I create. I have been a TV host since I was a teenager, and at that time only the entertainment, fame and making my own money was the goal to reach.

However, as I grow in the industry and started my talk show “Half-Open windows” fourteen years ago, I became more responsible towards the concept of creating something that will educate people, help people and be there for people.

With that being said, I have become more responsible and more detail oriented towards every single episode that I worked on either producing a show or being on the screens of millions of people all over the world.

What motivates you each day?

Based on whatever show that I host or produce at the time, I have different motivations.

For the past 14 years, my goal has been to create a content that besides entreating people every single night, I could’ve educate them with the help of different experts of lawyers, doctors, psychologists, scientists, social workers and so on.

Every time that a family would get help for medical needs, education, housing, or even cloths that they couldn’t have done single handedly, that would have been a motivation for me to do more and create more episodes.

The motivation can vary time to time, but the main reason is the love that I have towards whatever I do either being in front of the camera hosting a show or behind it producing a show.

What do your plans for the future include?

Since the future seems approaching in full speed and social media is the core of the entertainment today, I would like to push myself out of my comfort zone of the TV sets and just create contents that are faster, shorter and more effective for today’s audience.

Today’s generation doesn’t sit in front of a box called TV and watch a show for an hour. They are on the go with their phones or tablets on their hands changing from one subject to another, so if I want to keep up with this generation but without forgetting about my generation.

I have to find the golden middle and create contents or produce shows which will fulfill the needs of the both generations.

I think Podcasts are one of the formats that I would like to challenge myself with.

How does it feel to be a part of the digital age? (Now with streaming, technology, and social media being so prevalent)

As I mentioned, the digital age is really fast and every single day there is a new app, a new format, a new edition, and of course there is AI.

However, for a host and a producer like myself who wants to be up to date, I try to first educate myself with learning about the market and the new ways of creating contents.

If my audience have been adults who would go home after a long day at work and watch my show on TV and discuss about it the next day at work, my audience on social media today wants to see me more in my real life.

For example, if I make a commercial on my social media these days, it’s all about my day to day life.

Drinking an energy drink at the gym in my activewear brings more views in my social media, than having me on TV advertising the same drink in a suit and tie.

So, in my opinion social media as much as it seems fake and too much, it also appreciates the honesty of a person who is creating a content for a larger audience.

What is your advice for young and emerging TV hosts, producers, and content creators?

When I was a teenager, I remember that specially in our industry the older generation wouldn’t admit that the younger ones were better, smarter and more creative.

Thank God in this day of age, we, as older generation acknowledge that the younger generation is smarter because they were born in the world with the phones in their pockets, with the tiny cameras that anyone can operate, and the technology that can bring their vision to life.

My advice to the younger generation would be that no matter what people say they need to believe in themselves, in their ambitions, their visions, and love whatever they do.

No matter if it’s a small TikTok video or a million-dollar commercial, if they want to bring their vision to life they need to fist believe in their true selves and then put love in whatever they create.

Were there any moments in your life or career that have helped define you?

14 years ago, when I started hosting the first episode of “Half-Opened Windows” talk show I would have never thought that my whole life would change drastically.

Throughout these years I have evolved from a TV producer and a host to the point that I decided to go back to school and become a psychologist. I have become a person who I am today; more tolerant, more approachable, and more kind.

To be honest, the fame, money and being recognized in every grocery store have changed to stopping and listening to a stranger who will actually need to hear one sentence from me which will maybe make his or her day happier.

I am glad to say that yes, my career has defined and shaped the man who I am today for which I am very grateful.

What does the word success mean to you? (My favorite question)

When you are a young man in this industry, you do everything to be more recognizable in the streets, to have more money, to be invited to more parties and events, to have more ladies next to you, and that would be the state of success.

As you get older, and have all the things that once were a dream, then you take a moment and question yourself what now? Today, my success in my family.

To be home after a long day on the set and be greeted by my daughter saying that she missed me, having dinner with my family and staying in on a Saturday night is a definition of success. Unfortunately, in the industry that we are, not so many people make it to this point.

Fame, money, alcohol, drugs, and many other obstacles take some famous people so early from this life. However, the true success in my opinion is to have your family and have the respect and the love from your fans throughout your life.

What would you like to say to your fans?

To my fans, I just want to say thank you! I am truly grateful for all the love and respect that I have received all these years.

Also, I am so thankful for all those who criticized me, said all the bad words to me and wrote the meanest comments on my posts. Every single one of them both good or bad have shaped me and evolved me to the man I am today.

I will keep producing shows or contents that will be controversial, fighting the taboos of the society and will try to educate people as much as I can with the help of my amazing team, but one thing will always remain the same, I love what I do and I love all the people who appreciate what I do, so thank you.
