Country singer-songwriter Chayce Beckham was the winner of Season 19 of “American Idol.”

‘Whiskey On The Wall’ single

He just released his latest single “Whiskey On The Wall” on October 27. “It is great to finally get it out,” he said. “It’s amazing to have it out on the grid where everybody can go and listen to it. I’ve been hanging onto it for a while so it’s been cool to put it out.”

“There are a lot of songs that glory drinking, which is fun, but this is a different spin. This is a song where you are not glorifying alcohol. I think this is a song that many guys and girls need to hear right now. I hope it hits people in the right spot when they hear it,” he explained.

Beckham shared that his music and songwriting is inspired from his real-life experiences.

Luke Bryan Tour

Beckham is touring as part of Luke Bryan’s “Country On” Tour. “The Luke Tour has been great; we are on our last weekend of it right now,” he said.

“It has been an incredible year, especially releasing new music and getting to perform it for the fans. I couldn’t ask for anything more,” he said.

’23’

His single “23” was penned solely by Beckham and it is semi-autobiographical. It is nearing the Top 15 on country radio; moreover, it has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “I wrote that song when I was 23, I recorded it when I was 24, but we didn’t take it to radio until I was 26,” he said with a sweet laugh. “Now, I am 27… and the story goes on.”

“Once it went platinum, I didn’t really know what to say,” he said. “That was something I always dreamed about. It was quite awesome to get that platinum plaque.”

“I am keeping my head down, still working hard, and trying to move up a little more,” he said. “I’m doing the best I can… It has been awesome watching that song grow and watching the reaction from the fans and on the radio… Also, seeing that translation into the shows has been amazing.”

“Getting to perform a song that I wrote entirely by myself on ‘American Idol’ and getting to win the show with it was a super special feeling,” he admitted.

Grand Ole Opry debut

Most recently, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut. “My Opry debut was amazing… especially to go out and be a part of a night at the Grand Ole Opry, that’s everybody’s dream as a country singer,” he exclaimed.

“Also, receiving the plaque on stage just felt like a really electric night, and like a magnetically charged experience,” he added.

The digital age

On being an artist in the digital age, Beckham said, “I feel like it’s a little bit trickier than it would have been in the past, to be honest. Social media makes it easier to connect with the fans.”

“To be able to have songs on streaming platforms and on the radio has been a win-win for me,” he added.

‘American Idol’ experience

While on the reality singing competition “American Idol,” Katy Perry praised his voice in that it “sounds like the heart of America.” “That show is a beast in and of itself,” he admitted. “It has been an awesome process, and I am grateful to be out here singing my songs and touring the country.”

On winning “American Idol,” he reflected, “I still don’t know what that felt like. It’s one of those things like performing at the Grand Ole Opry. It is still something that I don’t think I will fully process. It has definitely changed my life in so many ways, so dramatically. I am so grateful for it.”

He listed Tyler Childers’ “Hard Times,” Chris Stapleton’s “You Should Probably Leave,” and Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather” as his personal favorite tunes to perform live on that show. “I felt lucky to be able to express myself with songs from some of my favorite artists,” he said.

“It was awesome to be able to show the world my own original music, and where that music comes from,” he added.

Dream duet choices in music

Beckham listed Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson as his dream duet choices in music. “I’ve always wanted to sing a song with Lainey one of these days,” he said. “There are so many great artists out there right now, I would be happy to collaborate with anyone. I would love to create great music with other artists.”

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, he said, “Young Man.” “I am pretty happy and comfortable where I have gotten… so we’ll see. We are working on a lot of new music and projects that we will be releasing. We want to keep the ball rolling, and hopefully, be working on an album.”

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Beckham said, “Success means peace with your family and your friends. Also, happiness and tranquility. Being content is my idea of success. That’s the most important thing no matter what.”
