Ana Isabelle, a Puerto Rican singer, actress, dancer and entrepreneur, chatted about her latest endeavors.

‘Lone Star’ production Off-Broadway

Next month, she will be starring in the upcoming Off-Broadway production of “Lone Star,” which is directed by Joe Rosario. “It feels amazing to be able to work on this production of ‘Lone Star.’ This play hasn’t been on Broadway since 1979. I think it is relevant to bring it back to Off-Broadway now with a new perspective,” she said.

Starring as Elizabeth: The female lead in the play

On starring as the female lead in the play, she admitted, “It feels like a great responsibility and honor that I’m taking really seriously. Elizabeth brings so many relevant topics during her monologues and songs that it makes the character deeply meaningful and colorful.”

Working with director Joe Rosario

She opened up about working with “Lone Star” director Joe Rosario. “It is easy and fun. He respects my voice as an actor. He also knows specifically what he wants which is really helpful to make clear choices with the character,” she said.

“I’m excited to start working with Ryan [McCartan] really soon,” she said. “I love his work on ‘Frozen’ so I’m sure we will have a lot in common. Looking forward to have fun and play on stage with him and Matt.

The digital age

On being an actress and performer in the digital age, she said, “I think it inspires me to keep expanding my mind and open my perspectives. I like to use social media on my favor and connect with my audience to know what works commercially.”

“As an artist, it’s important to keep track of what’s happening in the world but also respect the simple ways of connecting with my work, art and craft,” she added.

Advice for young and aspiring actors

For young and aspiring actors, she encouraged them to “educate themselves as much as they can.” “Also, to persevere and believe in themselves more than anything. We are in an era where we have to reinvent ourselves constantly, create our own projects and bet on ourselves,” she said.

Success

On her definition of the word success, she said, “To feel loved, to have good health, to have financial freedom, to do what I love to do professionally with balance in my personal life and to be surrounded by my family.”
