Actress Maya Days of “Rent” chatted about starring in “Avalona, A Musical Legend.”

The show is directed by Dodd Loomis; the cast features Jenna Rubaii (“Groundhog Day”), Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (“Rock of Ages”), Madeline Serrano, and Dina Fanai.

‘Avalona’

“I am excited about ‘Avalona’,” she exclaimed. “Expect to be viscerally moved. Seriously,” she told her fans.

The show is extending its run for an additional six weeks, beginning February 20 through March 29, 2025. It will celebrate its opening night on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at The Sanctuary at St. Paul & St. Andrew.

This immersive, multi-genre spectacle, which has been praised for its groundbreaking approach to musical theater, will continue captivating audiences through this expanded engagement.

On her character, she said, “I love The Shaman’s maternal, unconditional love and support for the entire cast.”

Regarding the lessons learned from this show, she remarked, “This show taught me that it’s essential to perform materials that hold an actual place in my soul. I feel the Shaman’s message is for so many of us in this moment.”

On being a part of the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, she revealed, “The magic and danger are one in the same.”

Advice for young and emerging actors

For young and aspiring actors, she said, “Preparation meeting opportunity equals success. Period.”

“Be extremely careful with your inner dialogue. Use your words carefully, and be kind to yourself at all times. Arm yourself with knowing your art like you know your name,” she added.

Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “As cliche as this may sound, success means genuinely loving yourself.”

“My wish for everyone who enters our beautiful space is to allow the healing elements of the piece to heal,” she concluded.
