A Texas native, McConaughey will bring his real-life acting experience to prospective film students at the University of Texas at Austin.
His mother was a former kindergarten teacher and his father was a former football player. McConaughey attended undergraduate school at the University of Texas at Austin College of Communication, and he subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film.
He is best known for his leading roles in The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, We Are Marshall and Dallas Buyers Club, for which he won an Academy Award for “Best Actor in a Leading Role.”
The official professor that is listed for the course is Scott Rice, however, he will receive assistance from McConaughey and director Gary Ross. It is entitled “Advanced Producing: Script to Screen.”
This course will give prospective film majors a behind the scenes look of the Civil War drama Free State of Jones, which was written, directed and produced by Gary Ross, and it stars McConaughey. This will allows students to gain insight into the production of a major feature film.
The Oscar-wining actor is expected to do most of his teaching through videos, but he is expected to visit the actual class at least once in the semester.
