Martina McBride celebrates 25-year anniversary of debut album

Her dedicated fans and country listeners can join on the celebration on May 26 to 28, with special programming on SiriusXM, CMT (Country Music Television) and Spotify.

A Kansas native, McBride signed a record deal with RCA Nashville, and her breakthrough album, The Time Has Come, had introduced her to the country music community. The album secured three singles on the Billboard Country charts, and it earned her a spot opening for Garth Brooks on his headlining tour; however, it was her sophomore album, “The Way That I Am, that catapulted her to stardom thanks to such hits as “My Baby Loves Me,” which reached No. 2 on the country charts, and her signature song “Independence Day.”

Her music video for “Independence Day” reached No. 2 on CMT’s “100 Greatest Videos in Country Music,” and it won the 1994 Country Music Association (CMA) award for “Video Of The Year.” McBride is the spokesperson for the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and the Love Is Respect campaign.

In addition, McBride formed the organization “Team Music Is Love,” a global charity that is dedicated to making the world better through the power of music. Through this organization, McBride and her fans have built a music program for recovering and homeless young girls at Covenant House in Guatemala, thus raised money for a breast cancer research, sponsoring and volunteering at several shelters and food kitchens in cities where she performs.

She has released 12 studio albums, and she has sold over 18 million albums worldwide. She has recorded duets with such artists as Bob Seger, Jim Brickman, Don Henley, Jimmy Buffet, and John Mellencamp (for his latest studio album).

McBride is in the studio working on new music, and she is continuing to perform at venues and festivals across the United States.
