It was held at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, and it was one of the most successful shows in the organization’s 25-year history.
This year’s line-up consisted of country groups Restless Heart and Shenandoah, as well as Craig Wayne Boyd (who won NBC’s The Voice), and it was headlined by The Marshall Tucker Band.
Most impressive about this event is that it featured several surprise appearances, including Country Music Hall of Famer William Lee Golden from the Grammy-winning group The Oak Ridge Boys, who joined Restless Heart on the song “Thank God For Kids.” In addition, multi-Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs was a part of the concert, which was hosted by 650 AM WSM’s Bill Cody and television personality Kelly Sutton.
The concert concluded with The Marshall Tucker Band performing their signature song and career hit “Can’t You See.”
Doug Gray, the lead singer of the iconic Marshall Tucker Band, noted that it was indeed a “special night,” via a press statement. “It was really overwhelming, being on-stage with so many incredible musicians and all for a great cause,” he exclaimed.
