Actor and TV host Mario Lopez (“Access Hollywood”) chatted about his new Great American Family holiday film “The Christmas Spark,” where he pays tribute to firefighters.

The synopsis is: “A passed-over corporate lawyer (Mario Lopez) joins his small town’s Fire Department, where he competes with a fallen hero’s son – and finds unexpected sparks with his widowed mom (played by Ali Cobrin).

Aside from starring in this movie, which premiered yesterday on Great American Family, Lopez also served as a producer.

On his new holiday movie, Lopez remarked, “This was special to me because we got to pay our respects to the firefighters and first responders, especially since earlier in the year, we had the devastating fires in Los Angeles.”

“So I wanted to pay homage to them, and I really felt we did that along with the romantic, more emotional, heartfelt Christmas story,” he noted.

“I like that my character was dealing with a lot of emotion — perhaps going through a midlife crisis — as an attorney turning into a firefighter, but ultimately, he finds out what’s really important,” he explained.

Working with Ali Cobrin and Charlie Besso

On working with Ali Cobrin and Charlie Besso, Lopez exclaimed, “I loved working with them. They are both talented and just great people. I really enjoyed working with them, and I would love to work with them again.”

Lessons learned from the screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay, Lopez reflected, “It taught me that you are never too old to learn, to grow, and to try new things.”

Lopez on what he is looking forward to most during the holidays

Lopez shared what he is most looking forward to during the holidays. “I enjoy spending my with my family, and just sleeping and relaxing, and not having to get on a plane,” he admitted.

Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions at ‘Casa’ Lopez

On his holiday traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas at “Casa” Lopez, he shared, “Spending time with family, a lot of food, a lot of music, some gambling, church and a lot of movies. Also, my mom brings a lot of tamales.”

Closing thoughts on his new Great American Family holiday movie

For fans and viewers, Lopez expressed, “I am really proud of the way ‘The Christmas Spark’ turned out, and I hope that everyone checks it out. I am very happy with the way it turned out.”

“Thank you so much to the fans for watching these holiday movies, and for supporting me on ‘Access Daily,’ ‘Access Hollywood‘ and ‘On with Mario Lopez‘,” he said, effusively.

“I hope the fans also check out my son Dominic’s holiday movie ‘Chasing Christmas,’ which is coming out soon,” Lopez concluded.
