Actor Marcus Coloma chatted about “General Hospital,’ MB “State of Mind,” and his upcoming fan events.

The late U.S. Army general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell once said: “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” Marcus Coloma is an actor and individual that exemplifies this timeless quote.

‘General Hospital’

Coloma plays the role of Nikolas Cassadine on the hit ABC soap opera “General Hospital.” “My character is a bit of a rascal and he gets into a lot of sticky situations and mud,” he said. “Everyone is a pleasure to work with so that makes it that much more enjoyable to play him.”

He had great words about working with Nicholas Alexander Chavez who plays his son Spencer Cassadine, and Avery Kristen Pohl who plays Esme Prince, Spencer’s girlfriend. “Nicholas has become like a part of my family,” he said. “Nicholas is the best. He is a sweet and smart guy, and we are so similar in so many different ways. I love working with him and I cannot say enough great things about Nicholas.”

“Avery is an incredible girl. ‘General Hospital’ tends to pick some really talented actors that are also exceptional human beings, and that makes it that much more fun,” he added.

Coloma also enjoys the company of co-star Johnny Wactor, and they recently shared a rock climbing adventure together, which even featured a cameo from a rattlesnake that made its way into Coloma’s bag. “Johnny is one of the coolest guys,” he admitted. “Johnny is so down-to-earth, he is such a sweetheart, a super truthful, and a humble guy.”

MB ‘State of Mind’

Coloma opened up about appearing on Maurice Benard’s MB “State of Mind,” his podcast on mental health. “Being on ‘State of Mind’ was incredible. That was a really fun process and it was nice to dive deeper into things and get to know him. I definitely had some cool realizations throughout the process.”

He continued, “Maurice has definitely become a mentor to me and we have become super tight buddies. I think Maurice is one of the most talented actors in the industry and on top of that, he is super funny and a really nice man,” he said.

“I am lucky. Between Maurice, Nicholas [Chavez], and Johnny, I work with the greatest guys,” he added.

In-person fan events

On June 5, Coloma will be a part of a GH Fantasy event at Hilton Hasbrouck Heights in New Jersey, and on October 29, he will be a part of yet another GH Fantasy event in Melville on Long Island, New York. “I am really excited. These events are so inspiring because it is cool to see people and hear how much they like things,” he said. “I really enjoy these events so much.”

“I’ve been to Manhattan a couple of times but I am excited to check out Long Island and New Jersey,” he added.

On September 10, Coloma will be at Rockwells in Pelham, New York, for an intimate afternoon fan event with co-star Johnny Wactor.

Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, “Still Figuring it Out.”

Fans

For his dedicated “General Hospital” fans, Coloma remarked, “It has really become a fun relationship with the fans. The ‘General Hospital’ fans are just amazing. Over the last couple of years, I really appreciate them so much.”

“What I really love about them is that they are able to differentiate the character from the actor. No matter how hot the water gets, sometimes it is boiling, the fans are always supportive and invested in the story. At the end of the day, they love the actor, which is really cool,” he elaborated.
