Actress Mahina Napoleon chatted about starring in “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 2.
The synopsis is: Brace yourself for high-stakes battles and ruthless showdowns in the all-new season of Dead City, which premiered on May 4th exclusively on AMC and AMC+.
What motivates you each day?
What motivates me each day is my family and friends. They keep me grounded and humble, always reminding me of where I come from and the values I was raised with.
I’m incredibly grateful to have such a strong support system—they truly are the foundation of everything I do, and I feel beyond blessed to have them by my side.
What was it like playing Ginny in “The Walking Dead: Dead City”?
Playing Ginny has been such a rewarding and meaningful experience. This role has challenged me in new ways because Ginny is so different from who I am in real life and from characters I’ve played before.
What made her especially unique was the emotional weight she carried despite saying so little at first.
In this season, I really got to explore her transition from being nonverbal to finally finding her voice — and that shift was something I took a lot of pride in. It was such a powerful way to show her inner strength and how much she’s grown.
What I also love is how Ginny becomes this emotional anchor for Negan.
Through their connection, fans get to see a completely different side of him — something more human, more vulnerable — and that dynamic really sets this story apart from the larger Walking Dead universe.
Even as Ginny faces betrayal, her resilience plays a huge role in how the season unfolds. It’s been such a layered and unforgettable role to take on, and I’m so grateful I had the chance to bring her to life.
What do your plans for the future include?
I have a lot of exciting things in the works right now! Some fun new projects are coming up, and I’ve also been focusing on my music—both creating new songs and revisiting older ones. Stay tuned to my Instagram for updates and more info soon!
How does it feel to be a part of the digital age? (now, with streaming, technology, and social media being so prevalent)
I think it really helps—especially for anyone looking to get their name out there and break into the influencer or acting world. It’s a great starting point and can open up a lot of opportunities.
Were there any moments in your career that have helped define you?
One of the biggest moments for me so far has been landing the role on The Walking Dead. I’ve always been a fan of the show, so being part of it feels incredibly special and has made me even more grateful for the opportunity.
The entire experience—from my first interviews to walking the red carpet—has been amazing. It’s opened new doors for me and made me really excited for what’s ahead.
What is your advice for young and aspiring actors?
My advice is to put yourself out there. If you get the chance to do something you love—even if it’s small—take it! You never know what it could lead to.
That one opportunity could be the start of something bigger than you ever imagined. Believe in yourself and keep going!
What does the word success mean to you? (my favorite question)
To me, success means getting to do what I love every day and continuing to grow in it. It’s about being proud of who I am, working hard to reach my goals, and making my family proud along the way.
Success also means learning from my mistakes, staying true to myself, and finding joy in the journey—whether it’s in acting, school, or life in general. If I’m doing my best and staying happy and authentic, that feels like real success.
What would you like to say to your fans?
Thank you all so much for your support! I truly wouldn’t be where I am without you. Your love and encouragement remind me why I do what I do—and help me believe in my talent even more.
It means the world to know that what I’m doing makes you proud and happy. Love you all so much!
