Maddie and Tae talk ‘Girl In A Country Song’ success, dream duet (Includes interview)

Regarding the success of their chart-topping, breakthrough radio single “Girl In a Country Song,” Tae said, “Honestly, it felt amazing because we wrote it obviously just out of pure annoyance about how women were portrayed in country music. We wrote it to ease our minds, and we never thought it was going to be on the radio, or a No. 1 single. It was a great validation that we were doing the right thing. Now with our entire record out, we told the truth and we were very unapologetic about that. We were just being ourselves, so success has been very amazing, and we have our fans to thank for that.”

Maddie and Tae both concurred that their dream male collaboration choice in the genre is Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill.

Tae’s proudest professional moment thus far was being afforded the privilege to sing with Grammy-winning country star Lee Ann Womack, where they collaborated with her on a soothing rendition of Womack’s “A Little Past Little Rock.” “We did that at our album release party, which was a huge moment for us, since we had one of our biggest influences with us. After we sang with her, she said some really kind words about us. It is really cool to hear such kind words from someone we looked up to forever,” Tae said.

On their plans for the future, Maddie shared that within the next ten years, they hope to be on album No. 5 or No. 6. “We want to keep touring and making music,” Maddie said.

For country duo Maddie and Tae, the word success means “Believing in yourself.”
