‘Mad Men’ promo weaves the past into the future

Warning: Potential spoilers may follow

The promo appears to not have any footage from the new season, but seamlessly glides through the series’ big emotional moments. The lack of new material is no surprise considering Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner hates spoilers.

With a stirring soundtrack, the promo weaves it way through big character moments from the ensemble cast, from Don Draper to Roger Sterling and Pete Campbell to Peggy Olsen. To top it all off, the narration comes from a season one episode where Don Draper makes the most famous pitch of the series.

Mad Men follows men and women in the advertising business in New York City in the 1960s. The series started in 1960 and is nearing the end of the decade as season seven comes to a close.

The final season, like Breaking Bad before it, has been split into two halves. The two halves are called “The Beginning” and “The End,” and will show how the various characters deal with upheaval in their lives as younger people take their place and as the 1960s transition into the 1970s — with all that entails.

“The End.” the final seven episodes of Mad Men, will premiere on AMC on Sunday, April 5 at 10 p.m.
