Pop singer-songwriter Mackenzie Sol chatted about his single “Anxiety,” Las Vegas residency, and upcoming performance at Mister USA.

Margaret Mead once said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” This quote applies to Mackenzie Sol.

Las Vegas residency

Sol hails from a small town in Northern England, and he lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. “I love it here,” he exclaimed, prior to noting that he is thrilled about his new residency at The Shag Room at The Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas.

‘Anxiety’ single

On the inspiration to write “Anxiety,” he said, “I was tired of writing love songs and I wanted to write something more real. It related to me, and I wanted it to relate to everyone in the world.”

“The message that I want to get out with this song is that it’s okay to have anxiety,” he said.

“I also want people to know that they are not alone going through this. I can relate to this song so much myself, and I know in times of anxiety, I am not alone. A lot of people deal with anxiety on a regular basis, and this song is trying to relay that message to those people,” he elaborated.

‘American Idol’

Sol also recalled his experience competing on the reality singing competition “American Idol.” “Competing on ‘American Idol’ was a roller coaster of emotions,” he admitted. “It was something I had never done before, but overall, it was great. I had nerves, excitement, and so many emotions going on in my brain.”

“It was an experience I wouldn’t take back. Honestly, I didn’t think I would make it as far as I made it,” he added.

A proud moment for him was when his mother surprised him at his “American Idol” auditions. “That was sweet. A lot of people thought it was staged but I honestly had no idea. I had no clue at all about that,” he noted. “It was so great.”

In the future, Sol hopes to continue writing music for himself, as well as with other artists. “I want to tour the world. I don’t care how big the venues are, I just want to perform in front of people that appreciate me and my music, that’s the goal,” he said.

Mister USA performance

Sol shared that he is thrilled to be performing at the Mister USA finals, which will take place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, on August 31st. “I thought it was really cool when they reached out to me about it,” he admitted.

“I can’t wait to be headline and perform at their inaugural event. It should be a lot of fun. I am excited, and I’m looking forward to going to Hollywood,” he added.

Advice for young and emerging artists

For young and aspiring artists, he encouraged them to “be authentic.” “Do what you love. Don’t let other people bring you down. Be yourselves. That’s the answer every time.”

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Sol revealed, “Experimenting with new things.” “I enjoy things like that, so that is going to be cool,” he admitted.

Dream duet choice in music: Jon Bellion

Sol listed singer-songwriter and rapper Jon Bellion as his dream collaboration choice in music.

“Jon is my all-time hero when it comes to songwriting. I am one of the most diehard Jon Bellion fans one could ever meet in life. I would just love to collaborate with him,” he said.

Nick Tangorra

Sol had great words about fellow pop singer-songwriter Nick Tangorra. “Nick Tangorra is an amazing artist,” he said. “We went on tour together, and it was a lot of fun. Nick is so talented and a great person.”

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Sol said, “Being able to give back to my mother everything she has given me, that would be success. My videos on social media has surpassed 4.5 billion viewers total, which is crazy, and an accomplishment for me.”

“Also, watching my family seeing my fulfill my dreams is another form of success,” he added.
