Lynn Anderson remembered on 2017 ‘Lynn Anderson Day’ in Nashville

Anderson was a woman of many firsts in the country genre of music.

Throughout her illustrious career in the music scene, Anderson had 60 songs, all of which charted on the Billboard Hot country charts; moreover, she was first female country recording artist to sell out the “World’ Most Famous Arena” Madison Square Garden in New York City, back in 1974. That same year, she was the first female country vocalist to win an American Music Award (AMA).

With her Rose Garden album, Anderson had the longest-running No. 1 country album by a country female artist for 25 years (from 1971 to 1995), up until Shania Twain burst into the scene.

One of the biggest highlights of her career, was when she was named “Artist of the Decade 1970-1980” by Billboard Magazine.

To this day, Anderson is one of the most noticeable omissions from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, yet her music will also stand the test of time.
